Okavango Delta Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Okavango Delta

The Spirit of Botswana
The bearer of good news
And gifts from above
Meanders through the desert
In a silent parade
Pregnant with life
And magical spells

The Queen of the Kalahari
The mother of Sand
Brimming with life
Shimmering under the morning sun
Undisturbed and untamed
Slithers through the sand
Carrying papyrus reeds
And a diversity of life

The peacemaker
Dressed in Tranquility
With a heavenly aura
Roams the desert
With a bucket of water
A patch of grass
And a diversity of life

The dreamer’s pillow
Attracts multitudes
From across the globe
In search of inner peace
Spiritual renewal
And a beautiful dream

The Okavango Delta
Is a mystical Spirit
An ancient relic
The giver of life
Majestically dressed
Revered by many
Unapologetically beautiful
