Old Barn Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Old Barn

Old barn

Had my world, when a child
Around me, animals,
Domestics and the wilds.

Chickens, sheep, goats, donkeys
And mules, birds and fish.

There were barns, stables,
Well set, always managed
By masters and shepherds.

To find wives and husbands
Got involved matchmakers
Like mothers and fathers.

The cause was clear
Old knew far better
The way to future
For good of children.

Now, grown and elder
Wikileaks gets respect
And I am abandoned…

Sit back and laugh out loud:
"The changes are beyond
What mankind expected…"

Look at those around me,
Talk with them jokingly:
"Elderly is donkey…"

Broken and whining,
They confirm by nodding:
"The masters are machines…"

Folded and unable
To move and go further,
Take steps using canes
To find chair and table,
Sit, play backgammon…
