Old Foes Poem by Aidan Clevinger

Old Foes

The battle lines are already drawn,
Stretching far as the eye can see.
And the terms of war we've agreed upon
Are as clear as clear can be.

My arsenal is plain to see,
There's no need for guile or stealth.
But I'm no longer sure of victory,
I don't know what to do with myself.

I've waged this war before,
These enemies I know of old,
So I know exactly what's in store,
I know how the battle will unfold.

These insecurities and doubts of mine,
Have come crawling from their dens.
And so, tonight, one more time,
I'll face old foes again.
