Old Tree Poem by Aileen Figueroa

Old Tree

Rating: 5.0

I lean back on an old tree
full of memories and unkept promises.
It held on to its ancient secrets in its branches,
of stories never told.

I close my eyes anticipating
a change in the atmosphere.
I see a rainbow rising.
On my knees, I spoke to the earth
to find out its meaning.
The earth seems to be ready
to give birth to a wealth of
valuable thoughts.

I touched the wind with my
fingertips and spoke with the spirits.
Close your eyes again, they said.
If when you open your eyes and
see the day is sunny and bright
then so shall your future be.
But if the day is full of storms
then so, shall be your life.

Now, open your eyes!
