The Cycle Of Life Poem by Aileen Figueroa

The Cycle Of Life

Rating: 5.0

I never comprehended the why's
of the cycle of life when I was younger.
It has been surely less then what I hoped for,
but amusingly more then what I had expected.

But now it's well understood.

In the bouncing barrel of curls
in a young girl's head of hair.
The glowing skin of an
expecting young mother.
Even the ability to move without
asking for permission, I envy...
The brilliant smile and
bright curious eyes.
The ever so ready eager energy.

It also brings us unexpected changes,
you may call them, 'The Bittersweet's'.

It teaches us all about pleasures
but with the same token,
which is quite naturally normal,
it also shows us
how cruel and unforgivable time could be.
I stand firm and strong as
The Cycle of Life welcomes me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was traveling on the A line train to Manhattan. While I watched
the people around me, I got to thinking of life. How some people appear to me. Some seem to be happy, but many did not.

Well written, Aileen. I really like this. My cycle of life is turning slower and slower.
