Olympus Mons Poem by Joseph Karimoni

Olympus Mons

As the bullet tore into the flesh,
of brother and sister,
of the little blooming flower,
of tomorrow's hope,
a nation's heart shrunk!

The cowardice for our fortitude hit us -
Wrath of criminality for our just deeds -
astounding evility upon a Godly people!

For a moment,
our courage was lost,
hope diminished,
our strength weakened,
confusion reigned.
But, somewhere in between,
our spirit was rekindled.
The ever burning fire of who we are, yet lived.
The unity of a diverse nation,
the diversity – our strength.
strength from our ideals,
our ideal to stand for humanity,
for,
we are human -
just,
peaceful,
loving,
honest,
caring,
realistic,
free,
our brother's keeper,
GODLY.

The enemy shall never prosper,
good overcomes evil,
light conquers darkness,
God stands for His people.
In the end, shall we not only prevail,
But remain strong,
dedicated,
unbowed to the terrorists -
the enemies of humanity.

We stand unshaken
We shall not relent
Never will we back down.
The spirit within us
of a people united in grief
and who basks in glory as one.
We shall stand tall,
like the Olympus Mons.
