On A Sudden Death Poem by Dr Avinash Dal

On A Sudden Death

Once there was my little one
Little pink lips, fair face
Everyone’s heart she had won
With spring in her pace

She was the star of my eyes
My world revolved around her
So strong were our ties
For me the most beautiful flower

Nothing imagined
Without her presence
I had taken for granted
Eternal existence

Life in a second split
Snuffed out fast
Gone the smile sweet
Nothing now to last

Gone away forever
Now a moment of history
No presence now to savor
Only a distant memory

Like a flame snuffed out
Leaves but a smoky trail
The daylights blacked out
Is this living hell?

Her body here lies
Limp and lifeless
Though we call her
With cries endless

Years have passed since then
A part of my soul missing
I still look up when
I hear small feet stepping

Where am I to see her again
Again where to hear the laughter
Left behind with an empty pain
And a haze and blur

I looked around with vacant eyes
Alone in the midst of cacophony
Gently as the time flies
With heart still and stony

Waiting for an answer
God, if there is, I pray
Then tell me but why sooner
Was she snatched away?

It may be Your will
Or a play of Fate’s piece
Even though my heart you kill
Let her soul rest in peace.
