Once there was my little one
Little pink lips, fair face
Everyone’s heart she had won
With spring in her pace

My silent dim sunset
The journey of so many a year
Looking back a distance great

A thought creeping into Mind
A fleeting desire, a sudden find!
Not forward, not hind
Brightly aware!

O creature, of unknown fame!
Solemn in the midst of agitation
Looking in my direction

On the ridge, on my horse, riding high
I glanced down at the valley of time
lay the corpses, shrivelled and dry
Those were the fallen days all mine

In the place I knew and visited
So often and even rested
I wondered why I heard a cat's cry
As if trying to say some 'Hi'
