On Fox You Put The Blame Poem by Francis Duggan

On Fox You Put The Blame

Rating: 5.0

Australian native wild life disappearing and on fox you put the blame
But red fox would not be here if white man never came
'Twas the aristocracy introduced reynard for the hunt on sunday
And for the mistakes of colonial man there is a price to pay

You say that the fox is vermin i can't agree with you
For the fox can't see no evil in anything he do
If he kill native wildlife he has to kill to live
And he don't have guilty conscience yet him you can't forgive.

It was our white ancestors who brought reynard out here
But when i say such things to you, you turn the deafened ear
If fox kills rare marsupial he feels no pangs of guilt
And how can you blame the innocent for blood that has been spilt.

The aristocracy introduced the fox for to hunt him on sunday
And for the mistakes of the past there is a price to pay
And for the destruction of native wildlife on fox you put the blame
But fox would never be here if white man never came.
