On His Grave Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

On His Grave

Rating: 5.0

“Take him to burial ground”
He was not to be found
Doors remained locked from inside
He had taken journey to abide order

I heard some one knocking my door
I was sleeping as careless poor
Not committed to any punctual routine
“Sleep” I considered as very much divine

I hurriedly rushed to his home
Door was broken but no welcome
He was on ground and looked motionless
Yet bore sweet smile on face

He was loved by all
He may rush to anybody’s help on simple call
He had no much following
But large people in fact knew him

I took all the responsibility
“Dead are to be given decent burial” I remembered
We all shared same view
All were wearing gloomy face except few

I decided to place engraved stone on his grave
“Nice person, kind heated and brave”
Let us pay our respect and behave
He was among us to share

Not all people make to it high
Even with weak wings fly
Keep high ideal at heart
Perform as god’s men with simple art

Where was this going? Catherine Gifford13 hours ago I'm normally not a harsh critic, but after the second stanza I lost you. I guess it's not my type of poem. Sorry that I didn't enjoy but by all means keep writing and expressing yourself!
