On Mothers' Day Poem by Alexander Raju

On Mothers' Day

On Mothers' Day, as usual,
On May Twelfth 2K Nineteen too,
That I took up my mobile
And tried to ring my mother
And say, "Thank you for your love! "
But my hand shook for a awhile,
The shocking fact I recalled
That she's no more on this earth.

Though it was a few months back
That God deleted her name
From the list of the living,
I couldn't do so from my phone,
And a vain hope came to me,
Perhaps, someday when I dial
She may pick up and reply,
"Hi, my son! How is your health? "
