On My Way Home Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

On My Way Home

I see the distance
from an unknown beginning;
and I do not see the end
because it is far, far away
or enigmatic in some way;
eyes like sunshine every morning
open wide as the skies
watching all the hues and tints of life,
making sense and nonsense
in the hub of activities;
sometimes I gather enough urge
to tear the road- map I did not get
and even look for fellow travelers
making visits just like me
joining acquaintances
or peddling friendship
while I take to the side streets
on my way home.
