On my way to the library
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I was walking along the road
With not a care in the world
About how I am going to make a fortune
When all at once, the morning breeze
Caressed me with its gentle touch
And I came upon a flourishing plant
Full of beautiful blooming hibiscuses
Violet coloured as the indigo blue
That The Doors sang about
I walked around the corner
And saw John walking his dogs
Charlie licked at my foot
And it felt comforting and special
But Leo sniffed at my ankles
And disdainfully turned his head away
Deeming me not worthy of his doggy affection
Dogs! Who needs their approval, I thought
And tossing my head in feigned unconcern,
I carried on blithely to the library
To return a borrowed book.
