On Raising The Family(St.Thiruvalluvar) Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

On Raising The Family(St.Thiruvalluvar)

1021.No other greatness is more dignified than that of him
Who says, ”I’ll not be slack in raising my family”.
1022.If one’s manly efforts and wisdom act together for long
One’s family will go up higher and higher.
1023.To support one who tries to raise his family,
The Deity ties the waist-fabric*, and leads the way.
1024.To one who labours hard for the uplift of his family
Success comes ahead of the deliberations.
1025.To one who raises one’s family and lives blameless
The world goes around one as one’s kin.
1026.To raise the status of the family and make it powerful
Shows one’s good manhood.
1027.The dauntless warriors bear the brunt in the battlefield
The strong ones born in a race bear the burden.
1028.To those who raise the family, there is no season.
Being lazy and conscious of honour ruins their families.
1029.One who screens one’s household from the ills
is the apt vase for all kinds of toils and turmoils.
1030.If there is no strong man in a family to serve a prop,
The family falls at the stroke of the axe of misfortune.
