On The Cross Poem by Randy McClave

On The Cross

On the cross the Lord was crucified
On the cross he shedded his blood and died,
He gave his life for every man and woman and child there
Then he forgave all his enemies with a prayer.
He died for the ones who had crucified and hung him
He died for his followers and the ones who sang a hymn,
And he died for the ones still yet to be
He died for our parents and for you and me.
When the blood ran down his torn, bruised face
He died for every person and for every race,
He even died for that repentant lonely thief
Who was hanging next to him with sadness and grief.
He died for the rich and for the poor
He died for all those who came knocking at his door.
And he died for those of every land and every nation
He died for all of our sin, guilt, shame and condemnation.
There he was crucified at Golgotha hill
Where his body they did mock and did tortured and kill,
And there hung the teacher
Who died for the drug addict and the Preacher.
