On The Deck They Sang Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

On The Deck They Sang

then
over the ghost ship
on the deck they sang
with every jolt of wave
they sang
they sang and sang
they knew they were
in the mid-Oceans
that no other heard
save themselves and the liquid
Oceans:
the skies, stars of night,
the heavens and
the sea-wraiths of the deep,
all turned around as the ship jolted...
here and there
the ghost ship
and all shouted
and all scream
in one big shout and screams
those skeletons on deck
and dispersed shrouds
then
over the ghost ship
on the deck they sang
with every jolt of wave
they sang
they sang and sang
they knew they were
in the mid-Oceans.
