On The Grounds Of Versailles Poem by james watkin

On The Grounds Of Versailles

Some boughs, that held up the sky
At the great tree's base
Lie smoking. Off to the right
Lightning, the accused.

A royal family line's downfall
Of the French nation
For what suggests does affright!
Lashed out at; abused.
