On The Threshold Poem by Sybil Staples

On The Threshold

I am frozen in time
and see half blind
I cannot step forward
reach out or
carry what is no longer mine

But I can stand still
feel the peace
from a will
given over to
to the cause of one

Chopping admirable sentiments into lines doesn't eventuate in a very good poem. Assuming you want to improve as a poet (you do, don't you? 0, I'd suggest you stop writing for a while and immerse yourself in some good contemporary poetry. Nothing coming in, nothing going out. If you'd like, check out my new website: jeffersoncarterverse.com Tell me what you think of it. Yrs, JC
