On The Way To Munger. Poem by Debendra Majhi

On The Way To Munger.

His Village is Far Away,
And He is on the Way,
Streets are Dreary and Deserted,
There Seems no Way.

Migrant Millions Stranded,
Without Food and Work,
Trapped in between,
All seem Bleak and Dark.

Who will offer him,
A Morsel of Food,
Destitute and Street Children,
Seem mostly Doomed.

Bundle on his Head,
Backpack aches toes,
Hostile Security throughout,
Wailing kids Compound Woes.

Lockdown has brought,
Catastrophic Impact,
Stomach is Empty,
Eyes are Downcast.

He was in the City,
To Make Ends Meet,
Hopes Abruptly Dashed,
End waits to Greet.

Destitute seem Destined,
To Perish like-Ways,
Accompanied by Woes,
Longing to be his Village-Way.
