On Tim Holding's Rescue Poem by Francis Duggan

On Tim Holding's Rescue

Though for him 'twas a few days and nights of Earthly Hell
Tim Holding Victoria's State Water Minister found safe and well
Not one of the poor battlers of the World of today
One of money, power and fame he will be okay,
Two days and nights of bad weather the brave Tim did survive
And I feel happy for him and his family and friends and supporters that he was found alive
But millions of homeless and poverty stricken people have lived in this way for years
And for them few worry or shed any tears,
I hope from his brief time of bad experience insight he did gain
Of what many do go through in suffering and pain
To be found lost on Mt Feathertop he had luck on his side
But he survived exposed in a place where some would have died
But will his few days and nights lost on a mountain instill in him empathy
For the homeless and hungry we will have to wait to see?
