On You Life It Is Not Easy Poem by Francis Duggan

On You Life It Is Not Easy

On you life it is not easy better times don't come your way
You work so hard for low wages for you never easy pay
With a wife and three young children to support and clothe and feed
A better job and better wages you most certainly would need
You do not have a hero or a heroine to look up to and admire
To live free of money worries of life is all you desire
One of the hard working people of the poor side of the town
One who does know how it feels like to be financially down
In a non unionized workplace the bosses have it their own way
When you asked the company director for a wage rise to you he did say
There are plenty unemployed people who can do the job you do
If you give me quitting notice there will be many willing to replace you
With a bare award week's wages and living costs and rent to pay
Life for you is never easy trying to live from day to day.
