Once? - Poem by Kelly Kurt

Once, that’s all?
I thought it was just the first
Many more were supposed to follow
Weren’t they?
It didn’t even last that long
The only one, now it’s gone
Couldn’t there be just one more?
Why didn’t I know?
I could have savored it
I guess I blew it
You, yes you!
When your once comes
Enjoy it!
It only comes once

In case you had not the chance to read Horatii Flaci's ''Carpe Diem''I send you here a translation of mine from the latin text
    carpe diem

    Leuconoe
do not put the questions and look out to find
when it is to come my or yours end of life
that which Gods have given us.
It is impossible to find out.
So do not try even to tell it through the babylonian zodiacs.
It is better to endure whatever is to come,
the many winters or this only one
if it is the last Jupiter has prescribed us,
the one just now turbulenting the thyrrenean sea.
Be wise, prepare the mixture of wine,
    dwindle the great hopes
to be analogous to the short time in front
    pick up each day
    [like picking flowers up]
and do not trust the day to come after.
    ..................... ......................
    Q.Horati Flacci

I am an adamant atheist and philosophical thinker. To know that the same thoughts are not just global, but timeless, gives credence to the idea, Thank you sir

I think we have all had at least one instance that was an only. And we may not have appreciated it to the fullest

I especially like the meaning of this little poem as I've had a few 'ones' in my life and wished I'd had more....not forgetting all those 'if only' ones, the ones that got away, the ones that didn't etc etc (Report) Reply

If only. Is the seed of darkness. A cautionary tale, limiting regrets. Live NOW, and enjoy to the fullest. Even the mundane
    Thanks Ruth
