Once Upon A Time Poem by Charles M Moore

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time was I
sitting free though once was tied
then along came pretty you
to take away my feeling blue
you alone relit the flame
of love's eternal fire
you alone awoke in me
the feeling of desire

Float on air and drift away
record the dreams of yesterday
gossamer wings glide fancy free
when you alight remember me

The moisture on your tender lips
says love will never die
the beauty of your sleep at night
the teardropp in your eye,
The passion you enchain within
is bursting to be free
when it escapes I'll still be here
will you remember me

Burning embers in your heart
in your eyes I see the spark
of a love once burning bright
let me keep the flame alight
or tell me true once and for all
if you don't need my love at all
then I shall go my merry way
to seek a flame that I can save

Once upon a time was I
sitting free though once was tied
then along came pretty you
to take away my feeling blue.

Yes - the question is always there. We fear losing what we love, but love cannot exist in a box - it needs to be free - unless it chooses not to be. Lovely poem. Linda
