Once Upon A Time Poem by Casey Montgomery

Once Upon A Time

Rating: 5.0

Once upon a time there was a princess
broken, left with nothing, nobody.
Once upon a time there was somebody for her
ready waiting, to sweep her off her feet
and onto her golden chariot

I am not a princess
Princesses wear dresses spun of gold
and jewelry encrusted in gems.

I am not a princess.
I am not beautiful.

Once upon a time there was a prince.
He was meant for her.
He just never knew it.
He was never worth it.

Once upon a time he was the one
until she slipped away
from all that was ever worth a thing.

I am not a princess.
Princesses have happy endings and magical miracles.

I am not a princess.
I am not beautiful.

Once upon a time there was a princess
A princess wept black tears of pain.
She felt it cool against her skin
she did things princesses didn't do.

I am not a princess.
Princesses have smiles on their faces and sparkles in their eyes.
I am not a princess.
I am not beautiful.

Once upon a time there was a princess.
But princesses don't have broken hearts.
Princesses don't have scars to hide.
I am not a princess.
I am not beautiful.

Once upon a time there was a princess.
Everybody loved her, thought she had everything.
But she lost herself, and it all meant nothing.
I am not a princess.
I am not beautiful.
