Once When I Was A Child... - Poem by Meghan

once when I was a child
the world was full of wonder
the environment was vibrant
and every soul inspired
once when I was a child
the greatest joys
came of the simplest pleasures
and the concept of money was free
once when I was a child
my tears tasted like salt
and the ocean was fun to swim in
days like those have past and gone
innocence was torched
and the fire roars on

I ache to return to the days
where the sunlight in the morning
made my heart sing
and I never had to guess
if people's intentions were pure...
