One Day At A Time Poem by Brittani Martin

One Day At A Time

Rating: 5.0

I never thaught i'd see the day
where i'd be alone and locked away,
left to think about what i've done
all the problems and pain i've caused everyone,
and even though the past is the past
it don't mean the memories of the mistakes won't last,
i look in the mirror ashamed of what i see
what happened? i used to look so happy,
i'm not the person i used to be
and anymore i don't even know the real me,
the high's only temporary, the addictions forever,
they keep telling me 'we'll get through this together'
and nobody understands how hard you keep trying
and how inside you feel like your slowly dying,
keep trying to do good, yet messing up
til with you the systems had enough,
they try to help you before its to late
keep trying to fix and set you strait,
So next thing you know your sitting in here
something every parent and teen fear,
its fun and games until you get caught
you ask yourself 'what is there to lose', the answers alot
so sitting here thinking about every crime
I just have to take it one day at a time
