One Is In Need Of Fear Poem by Francis Duggan

One Is In Need Of Fear

That only the truly brave die young we read of and of hear
But to survive in the World one is in need of fear
The truly fearless in cemeteries lay
They did not live for to grow old and gray
Though tears may be shed for them and their praises sung
Those who ignore danger signs are destined to die young
Only those with some fear in them to an old age survive
So few of the fearless in their eighties alive
To survive in the World one does not need to be too brave
Most of those devoid of fear go early to the grave
Life is the greatest gift of any woman or man
So live for as long as you possibly can
And leave it to those without fear to die young
Though they do not know or hear when their praises are sung.
