One Less Person Poem by Randy McClave

One Less Person

One day that one person will be shot dead
Then there will be one less person to be fed,
And one less person to smile and give you praise
One less person for you to raise.
One less person for you to take pictures of
And one less person for you to touch and love,
And one less person for you to hug
One less person for you to give a funny shrug.
There'll be one less person to go shopping with you in a store
And one less person for you to buy clothes for,
And one less person for you to give a kiss
One less person for you to miss.
One less person to hear their laugh
And one less person to walk down an old path,
One less person to hear your NRA lie
And one less person to ask you why.
They'll be one less person for you to defend and protect
One less person for you to honor and respect,
One less person to defend with your gun or rifle
Because, not one less person believes owning a weapon isn't trifle.
One less person to watch tv or read books with
One less person to agree with you that gun violence is a myth,
And one less child to who you can toss a ball
Then sadly and finally, one less gun on your wall.
