One Mistake Away Poem by Francis Duggan

One Mistake Away

In this nuclear age would you not agree
That we are only one mistake away from World war three
And a nuclear war to humanity would come at a huge cost
When millions if not billions of human lives would be lost
Some of those with nuclear weapons at their disposal egotistical and do not seem very wise
One bombing gone wrong to a major catastrophe would give rise
In World war three all of humanity would lose
And death over life anyone sound of mind would not choose
Though many human beings would not be left alive
Mother Earth who feeds all life forms a nuclear war would survive
But the narcissistic with overblown egos the consequences of what their actions entail never take into account
And wiser counsel to their sort to little if anything does amount
And in this nuclear age few would disagree
That we are only one mistake away from World war three.
