One Month With A Few Days Poem by Francis Duggan

One Month With A Few Days

One month with a few days from another New Year
And with each passing day Christmas draws ever near
Those who like a drink will celebrate in beer
And the bar-rooms will echo to the sound of cheer
On the eve of the New Year we should celebrate
With a friend or a group or with a soul mate
To live one more year an achievement indeed
At survival we do need the will to succeed
To good memories of the past we fondly do cling
But far happier times the future may bring
The New Year for many with great hopes begin
Yet in life one has to lose for someone else to win
The New Year is drawing closer with each passing day
And next year lady luck she may smile your way.
