One Question Poem by Ramona Thompson

One Question

Not meant to offend
Don't want to start a unholy war
Just want to pose
One question
One question designed to make you think
To make you look deep
So very deep into your own soul to ask
Is love ever really enough when faced with the unthinkable?
The one heartbreaking question that asks
If you knew before their birth that your child was going to be gay.....
Would you?
Could you abort that unborn life and if so why?

Fine upstanding Christian couple
Preaching Hellfire and brimstone
Calling same sex love the ulimate sin in the lord's eyes
What would you do?
What would be your choice?
Could you really kill all in the name of your holy one?
Would that make your Jesus smile?
Would that make your god proud?
Think carefully before you answer
Think carefully before you say yay or nay to this heartwrenching
question
If you knew your unborn child would someday be gay....?
Would you abort that life before they could even take a first breath?

Judge, jury and executioner
Can you see yourself stepping into that spotlight?
Taking on and living with the consequences after
Wracked by guilt and nightmares or sleeping a peaceful sleep?
What do you believe would be your nightly fate?
Murderer or savior?
Which do you believe that you would call yourself?
Is it really your right?
Your choice to make?
Remember to ask yourself that
Before you take a drastic action that you can never take back
Aborting a innocent just for their sexual choices later on in life

Could you do it?
Why or why not?
Can you truely answer me that?

I wonder........
