One Song Poem by Edwina Reizer

For you I only have one song.
But it’s one that just goes on and on.
I don’t find the need to change it
or ever find it gone.

However when I sing this song
I feel my body shaking.
And my voice, that’s a whole ‘nother story.
The notes feel like they’re breaking.

Sometimes comparable to my heart
which has a voice of its own.
But at least it has a beat while alive
and has always known

that the song it harbors is repetitive.
and will sound with every breath.
And the song that I have for you
will leave upon my death.
