One Tofu Poem by Yonah Jeong

One Tofu

Rating: 5.0

water-soaked
beans,
made from crushed
comforting color,
comforting aroma,
you,
square and stable
who filled us with blessings
every morning
in the childhood
a handful tofu,
and the broken glass windows,
and through the cracks of broken wooden doors
You came out dancing from them
enveloped us
vapor of wisdom and the soul &
best food in prison
after release
the first thing they should eat
you, a Tofu
It is not a coincidence
like Raffle.

Tofu is like an Asian health food, cheap and plentiful in Indonesia, rather expensive in New Zealand, especially small towns; my wife will sometimes rush to supermarkets and Asian shops to buy tufu, as if it were like honey liquid gold.
