One Whole Year Poem by Denys E. W. Jones

One Whole Year

One whole year of war,
One whole year of sorrow.
One whole year of tragedy,
Which will not end tomorrow.

One whole year of killing,
One whole year of slaughter.
One whole year of burying
Murdered sons and daughters.

One whole year of Putin,
One whole year of Biden.
One whole year of Stoltenberg,
Blinken, Von der Leyen.

One whole year of Olaf Scholz
Putting off decisions.
One whole year of shocking scenes
On our televisions.

One whole year of sanctions
Nothing much achieving.
One whole year of families
For dead loved ones grieving.

One whole year of rape,
One whole year of pillage.
One whole year of Russian troops
Squatting in your village.

One whole year of refugees
Searching for a haven.
One whole year, one long, hard year
Since Vladimir's Invasion.

One whole year of war,
One whole year of sadness.
How much longer do we have
To put up with this madness?
