Prospects For Peace
An eye for an eye?
The whole world's blind.
A tooth for a tooth?
First casualty's truth.
A life for a life?
Spiralling strife.
Lex talionis?
Where has it got us?
Nineteen Fourteen -
The war to end war.
A century's passed since,
But war's not outlawed.
Ukraine and Gaza,
The latest to flare.
Prospects for peace
In our time are threadbare.
