One Winter After Another Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

One Winter After Another

One winter after another
Just swam
Just swam
In a misty merged together

Our gallant attempts
Fell
Our desires and
Visions
One by one foiled
- many almost at the very
- beginning -
- now
- one by one they fade
- too

There is no child; there is bleakness
The plain is hard as hardest rock
But
Worse, it does not bear above the rocks
No
Wonder
In the cleft below the cliffs-plain
The waters whistle wide
And spume a desert
