One Worse Off Than You Poem by Francis Duggan

You feel that the World's against you and life has knocked you to the floor
And you have lost the desire to get up and fight some more
And nothing seems to go right for you no matter what you do
But no matter how bad things are for you there is always one worse off than you.

Life's tide is flowing against you and knocking you about
And you feel depressed by it all and very down and out
But there is worse off than you and more than one or two
There are plenty out there like you and you are not one of a few.

You have plenty food in your fridge vegetables, milk and bread and meat
And you will not grow hungry you have more than you can eat
And people dying of hunger in parts of the World today
But suppose if you feel worse off than them you are free to feel that way.

Your girl friend she has left you and you feel so hard done by
But there are heaps of single women out there if you wish to give love one more try
And you are drowning in your sorrow and you feel a change of luck you are overdue
But one thing you ought to remember is that there is one worse off than you.
