Open Doors Poem by Lauren Owens

Open Doors

Life is a street of haunted houses,
With windows that keep you in,
and in these rooms we love we hate,
we bathe in light and sin,

Now when your window flies open dear,
It'll beckon you to climb on through,
Leave me in the darkness dear,
That window is just for you

Wind is blowing in my face,
I said goodbye to her embrace,
Don't look back over your shoulder,
'Go', I told her, 'Go' I told her,

Jump or you'll drown,
Reach for the sky,
Have trust in your wings and embrace the cuts,
before your window falls shut,
Reach for the sky,
Gotta go now before your hurricane dies,

Before your window is shut.
