Orange White And Blue Poem by robert delucchi

Orange White And Blue

I wrote this one about 25 years ago and found it recently in a box......how things change

ORANGE, WHITE AND BLUE

Is' nt it terrible
What happened in Sharpville?
Not so long ago
to people without a nation
So used and abused
All they wanted was to share in this nation
To be free and have an equal education
No more permits and passes
No third rate citizen classes
Or it will happen again
Just like at Sebokeng

Yet you call in your police force
And even your army
and with an iron fist you crushed them
So cruel and so calmly
You brand them illegal
When they show how they feel
Their spokesmen and leaders
In exile or detained
Mandela and others
All safely chained
You condemn Bishop Tutu
And what of the Zulu

Why do’ nt you listen
Talk and divide
And take that safe step
To the other side?

Catch up with history as it happens every evening on TV, robert! Your light is out, seems to me!
