Mother Nature's Song

Mother Nature’s Song

Tall stands the pine
proud and free
the sad errie song of nature
is sung by the breeze
its a low whisper and hum
which warns
of disaster yet to come
of man who leaves his city
for a dream of silent suburban
tranquility

But alas before the dream
there is a construction scheme
with bulldozers and asphalt tar
which leaves a permanent scar
where the tall pine once stood
proud and free

Now that man lives
proud and free
will mother nature
sing for he
as she did before
the song of death
and the final
nuclear war

In times of plenty, humans like bees chase the honey of the countryside to live, to then destroy the beauty that was once there......the very reson for their move. Robert I enjoyed your poem and wholeheartedly agree with its message.

Sadly, wherever man travels, devastation is hot on his heels. Man does not own the earth, the earth owns man. But does he know that? ....... I think not. An enjoyable read Steve

Listen to the pine tree as it sways In the light breeze at end of day A rustling of the boughs As the wind chimes allow. Then its all quiet and still As the sun sets and evening sounds fill The air as frogs and birds and other things Begin their chorus to sing. Then its all quiet and still As the moon rises over the hill And all begin their nightly sleep With silence over all does sweep. It's the time for cats to prowl And perhaps a lone wolf or dog to howl But all else is fast asleep Awaiting Nature's promise to keep. For with the first gentle breeze The murmur of the trees As the morning sun Announces another day's begun. But what if this all must go In a blast from Man's nuclear glow Then all will be silent without end As all routines suspend. Except the lowly pine Will once again comes to mind And with seeds that are enriched By the heat and blast of fire bewitched. Spring forth from their sleeping place And renew life's eternal pace. s
