Ordinary Man Poem by Francis Duggan

Ordinary Man

Rating: 5.0

He daydreams of adventure and wealth and renown
The ordinary man in an ordinary Town
But from his own street he never ventures far
And his favourite drinking place is his local bar.

His father before him in his young years the same
Day dreamed of adventure and great wealth and fame
But he stayed put and he lead an ordinary life
And he married a local his ordinary wife.

The son is a chip off of the old block that's what some might say
He will marry a local raise children and with her grow old and gray
And live in the one house until his last day
And be buried quite close to where mum and dad lay.

Of big foreign Cities he often does dream
But he does lack the will for adventure 'twould seem
He never could move out of his comfort zone
And he'll stick with the only life he's ever known.

He daydreams of being an extraordinary man
But in his Hometown he will live out his span
Many they never do follow their dream
Their comfort zone too hard for them to leave it does seem.
