Originality Poem by David Thomas

Originality

i broke out
the box is gone
livin on the outskirts
of a town full a fools
now the lights go down
the sun goes down too
as the stars come out to play
i'm on the carousel
stuck on repeat wonderin
how'd it come to this?
the music plays
over an over in my head
all i can think is this
this is originality
i'm breakin reality
the hammers are gone
an the peace is too
we make we break we ache
things ain't ever gonna be the same
two minutes later
things ain't ever gonna be the same
another two an ma horse stops
spinnin roun an roun like the earth
before we run outta heart
we all outta stop
take a breathe in
watch the snow fall gently
to this cold, cold ground
the red river runs coldest
on those days we didn't care.
