Orlando Night Club Shooting - Lgbt Victims - God's Own Children. Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Orlando Night Club Shooting - Lgbt Victims - God's Own Children.

People looked at you with surprise everyday
you yourself felt surprised when they looked at you;
where was it your fault if you were born this way
it was an unique personality out of which you evolved.
God had created you like this and you had to survive
you had to go on just like any other human being
you could not even change your appearance
as distinct were your instincts so unharmful
to those who could see it in your eyes and find a connection,
as it made you happy, it made you appreciate yourself
it made you live and grab a reason to go on and on;
and though you wanted to be normal in every way
by the attention you created with your reciprocation
you became a whirlwind of their admiration and desire
as you always responded with mutual acceptance and friendship.
O' how could anyone ever choose to kill you
when God himself had not killed you at birth;
and as you died that night without a chance to escape
so many wept for you, so many felt a pain, a grief.
And should you be re-born as someone so beautiful
let every dream that you left behind be fulfilled
that every tear, every regret that touched your feet
may go back in that sea where waters retreat with hope
and still they go back and forth without despair but relief;
may you be born again if God can offer you that option
for every human being who quits this world wants to live and die
a complete life and journey without any prejudice or injustice.
