Oscar Poem by Francis Duggan

Oscar

He has travelled in the World for three decades or more
From New Zealand's South Island to the Artic shore
He has been all through Asia and lived and worked in Japan
A true World citizen a well travelled man.

He has travelled through Britain and Ireland in wind sunshine and rain
Worked his way through Italy and Germany and Spain
Has seen most Countries of Africa been to Greece and to France
His motto make the most of life there is no second chance.

He has travelled in Canada and the U S of A
And been to Australia from his Homeland far away
And in his native Continent of South America he has travelled about
Oscar from Argentina the Land in the south.

He has travelled in Turkey, Iran and Iraq
And worked on a pipeline in Queensland's outback
Has made love to many women but never taken a wife
He feels too unsettled for the married life.

Last sighted him in Spencer street boarding a train
Perhaps I will never see Oscar again
A sedentary existence he would not enjoy
He will be a traveller till the day he die.
