Our Day In April (Part 3) Poem by Shelby Jasmin Estrada

Our Day In April (Part 3)

Rating: 2.7

I called you in the middle of october
When I called you the first time, you were not there
Nor the second, but the third, you were
When I heard your voice, I almost hung up

But then you said my name
We started slowly talking, then I brought up the subject, and you cried
You cried because you were happy and you loved me

You told me you wanted to be there for me
You wanted to take care of me and our baby

At six months pregnant, you got drafted to the war in Iraq
My heart sunk when you told me this had happened
You told me though that you would return, I believed you

Everyday I would cry for you, and write you my love
Everyone of those days i grew closer to becoming bigger

The day that my water broke, was the day that I cried the hardest
You were not there to hold my hand and tell me that you loved me

Our baby girl named Anne Marie Rose had black hair, green eyes, pale white skin, red lips, her eyes were as big as the moon, and she weighed six pounds and nine ounces
She was born April 22,2013
On our day in April
