Our skin is not a heavy burden
On the contrary, it covers our backs well
And our beautiful body perfectly.
Our skin is a special garment
Striped with different layers of the shadow
To warm us, even when it's dark.
Oh! Sun, we thank you for this gift
For this prognathic smile, and this ebony skin
Oh! Beautiful Moon! Where are you tonight with your kisses?
Our African blood is red, oxalic and very hot
Tam! Tam! Tam! I swear that Jesus Christ was one of us
Because they had dumped so many heavy charges on his back.
