Our Shadow Poem by Rachel Sims

Our Shadow

Rating: 5.0

I don't believe in coincidence
Even less when multiplied
I believe in design,
Strings and reactors
And the wings of butterflies
I believe in their effect
And the energy we create
I believe that intuition
Is a catalyst for fate

I suspect strangers are mirrors
For those who won't look inside
Casting their shadow onto others
A consequence of too much pride
I think when these wings flutter
They can provoke a storm
Seeding clouds that hang above them
Reaping what was sworn

I gather convolution
masks the sound
Of the still waters' ripple
When stones are cast down
Hurled from glass temples
that would crumble
If met with their own
I sense this cause and affect
Is disingenuously unknown

An ingenious poem. When you say " I believe in design" you say a lot and leave more unsaid. Loved it. Top score. And congratulations. This poem is recognised as the Poem Of The Day.
