It does not need
To use a thousand voices,
This song of ours;
It does not need
To last for many verses
Or even choose a catchy tune
So all may sing along,
For it is our song
And as long as we two
Can remember how it goes
It matters not if no-one knows
Its melody or lyrics
Except for us
As long as we do not forget
The music and the words
Which once we forged together
The world need not know when.
Our song will keep us strong
And echo, whispered,
On the breath of memory
When we are gone.
