Our World Is All Net Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Our World Is All Net

Today a Russian girl sent me an email,
A marriage agency gave her my name she said.
My matching services she wanted to avail
Perhaps I could find her the right man to wed?

I almost spilled my coffee on the keyboard
And wondered how in world she got my name!
I am just an old woman, and for the record,
I've never been into a dating/matching game.

Surprised? I was not, because our world is all net,
People just see us as a name on the screen.
Photos may be fake from people we never met,
The person may look pretty, but she is no teen.

I had a good laugh but was also filled with caution,
That some charlatans get our names, identities-
To lure the unwise and then cause a deception
This world's a virtual field for lies and miseries!
