Out Of Sight Poem by Don Subba

Out Of Sight

The world's so full of hunger
While others feast away
Fine food upon the table
With more than they can take

Someone hasn't eaten
For many days gone by
Someone searches through the trash
Just hoping they survive

But once they're out of sight
Our helping hands let go
Out of sight
Out of mind, we know

Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of sight
Out of mind

Another silent tragedy
We leave behind with time
Out of sight
Out of mind

A boy holds out a paper cup
Beside the market square
A woman saves her final crumbs
With no one left to care

The tables overflow with food
More than enough to share
But those who need a place to rest
Find no welcome there

But once they're out of sight
Our helping hands let go
Out of sight
Out of mind, we know

Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of sight
Out of mind

Another silent tragedy
We leave behind with time
Out of sight
Out of mind

If you can see the feast
You can see the need
Every hungry soul
Is someone to believe

Don't let compassion fade
Don't leave their hopes behind
No one should go hungry
Or be erased from mind

Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of sight
Out of mind

Another silent tragedy
We leave behind with time
Out of sight
Out of mind
